Teaching Philosophy: Teaching Philosophy: Teaching Philosophy:
I strongly believe in instilling strong fundamentals into all of my student’s games.  Nothing is more important than a fundamentally sound set-up.  A “bad” set-up position usually leads to a “bad” move away from the golf ball.

Since turning professional, I have worked with a wide variety of skill levels from Division-I collegiate golfers to beginners.  At every level of this game I believe in developing my student’s ability to score.  I believe there are two keys to scoring in the game of golf.  First, is developing a strong short game.  I emphasize to my students that they spend at least half of their practice session working on their short game.  Second, I give my students the ability to understand their misses.  Understanding one’s misses gives the player the ability to make quick and slight swing changes to improving their score on the remaining holes.

I firmly believe that there is no one way to swing a golf club.  All students are individuals with different ability levels, past experiences and progress and learn at different rates.  Establishing a solid setup, proper in swing mechanics, improvement of course management and a golfers mental game is a solid formula to better enjoy your golf game for many years to come.

The majority of swing faults can be traced back to pre swing fundamentals.  Proper grip, posture, ball position, alignment, tension and mind set all are essential elements for a sound golf swing.

The overall goal of my student teacher relationship is to provide golfers of all levels to better understand their games.  This understanding comes through knowing how their tendencies affect their ball flight.  This will enable the student to more enjoy their time spent practicing and playing which will lead to lower scores, which can only be fun.

I have been teaching the golf game for some 40 years.  There is nothing more exciting than seeing a student improve and find more enjoyment in their game.

All players need to have a mental image of a fine golf swing.  Once students know what to concentrate on, they can forget what not to do.  So many players have too many thoughts going through their minds.  Working on one or two simple ideas is a must for anyone who wishes to improve.

I try to simplify the learning process with the goal of hitting the ball to a target with little or no conscious thought.  To play your best, the fundamentals need to become automatic.
